Lodging advice for new UM parent

Does anyone have advice on where to stay when visiting UM?

The above gives you some discount info at area hotels. I personally liked either staying in Coral Gables near Miracle Mile (along Aragon) or on Bayshore Dr in Coconut Grove, (most of the hotels along Bayshore are a short walk/drive to the Grove restaurants and attractions).

Alternatively, there’s a Holiday Inn right across from campus, though there just isn’t much to do right around the hotel.

We liked the Biltmore in Coral Gables and the Sonesta in Coconut Grove. Both really nice places to stay and close to the campus. The Biltmore is Old World and has more amenities like a huge pool, tennis, golf course, etc. Nice if you want to enjoy other activities. The Sonesta is a modern high rise and has a small pool but is nice if you want to walk to all the nightlife, restaurants and shopping of Coconut Grove.

Ditto LilyMoon.

We have always stayed on the Miracle Mile at a great hotel, but less convenient than the Grove.

At our visit last month we stayed at the Sonesta Hotel in the Grove and despite the small pool and rainy weather, it was fine. Great location. Easy to find a breakfast place within walking distance which was great and very nice to stroll around at night.

We booked on Priceline.com.

Yeah, the Biltmore is great, just don’t expect to pay less than $300/night. Although for most UM parents, that probably isn’t a problem.

We usually stay at the Hyatt in Coral Gables - great rooms, great pool area - or the Sonesta in Coconut Grove - great location and you can walk to restaurants, etc. I always use Priceline and have had good luck getting these hotels.
