Log in...write post...hit send...timed out..lose post. How do I fix this?

So once again I got timed out after i wrote a post and hit send.

usually I remember to copy before I hit send but not always.

How do I fix this? Is it a CC setting or is it my computer setting?

Without knowing any more than what you’ve written, I’d say it’s highly likely it’s your computer or, more to the point, your network. If lots of users were complaining, that’d be another situation entirely.

Do you have the remember me box clicked so you stay signed in all the time?

My workaround has been to hit ‘Go Advanced’ fairly early, especially with a long post. Seems to keep me logged in and I don’t lose the post (+ at my age I re-read things several times before posting to catch all the typos).

When that happens to me its usually because I was overly passionate about the topic and trying too hard to get some scathing reply just right. Or because I was opening other pages to confirm facts that I was including. Or I’ve been writing the Great American Novel instead of a three sentence, concise, reply.

And then after I’ve lost the post I re-read the thread and someone else has made the same point, much more fluently than I would have, with better self control, and I’m relieved that my post was lost.

I look at it as The Gods of CC looking out for my best interests.

hahah east coast. Yes, that has actually saved me a few times.

I will try hitting the remember me box. I assume I can uncheck it when I log out.

I have never used the go advanced. I will check it out. Thanks.

Okay checked it out. I have been here 6 yrs and never even knew the go advanced was for posting. Now I know.

Good Grief.

I think this mostly happens if you have the window open for a long time before you even post. I don’t know what the actual amount of time that is, but if you have a CC window open, then perhaps go off to lunch, come back read that page and then write, too much time has gone by. So, if you “refresh” before writing, that will fix that.

thanks mom2…thats a pretty quick fix.
