Hi all,
So I am currently signed up for the logic and critical analysis course for next semester. However, when talking to my advisor he mentioned that this is more of a math course than a philosophy course, and as a result I would be taking only math and science courses next semester. From looking at the description, I personally thought it sounded more like a rhetoric course. Can anyone who has taken it provide some insight? Should I take ProbPhil or Great Philosophers instead to balance out my courses more? Or is it a relatively light mathematics course? (I've heard several people warn me about ProbPhil so I am hesitant to change). Thanks so much!!

I took this class my freshman year and it was definitely more of a math class - when I took it, it fulfilled the quantitative analysis requirement. I think a lot of people think it’s more of a philosophy class and the professor actually had to give a disclaimer in the first class warning people who thought it was an intro level phil class. I thought it was really hard, but I’m not a huge math person. If you like math then you should be fine - but it definitely won’t give you a balanced courseload.

Ok, thank you so much! Do you happen to know anything about what ProbPhil or great philosophers is like by chance?
