ive always wanted to go to harvard. LIKE REALLY REALLY REALLLLLLLYY BAD.

I know most of you can relate to that.

But suddenly, i thought...why? Cause people talk about it? Cause it was one of the first schoolz? cause it has amazing applicants? I looked at another school boston university in the same area and it has a 6 year med program and i heard it gives out generous scholarships (i want to be a doc). Its also much easier to get into and the workload is half as hard. I get the feeling most people i know just want to go to harvard to say they went to harvard. Well i could do that to. Its called Lying or stretching the truth.

Ex.

"Whered you go to school Sirajoman?"

"That one famous school in boston"

"OH HARVARD???"

"I love harvard"

"DUDE THATS TITE CAN I HAEV UR AUTOGRAF LOLZ?"

"yea".

I never said i went there just that i love it.

So i can go to boston, have more fun, less work, more money, and have 2 extra years of doing whatever i want than being in harvard taking 8 years.

Some people actually look to Harvard for the superb level of education and the incredible student atmosphere that forges incredible people capable of making the history books.

Sure, Boston University is also a great school, but if you're applying to Harvard just because of the name then you shouldn't really be applying at all.

I think that you are a prime example of what people should do when they decide what college they want to go to. Like you, people should research a pool of schools first and then decide where they should apply.

While it's great that you're looking beyond the name, I'm curious as to why you think that BU is necessary "more fun" and "less work."

I go to Harvard, and my girlfriend of a year goes to BU. She really likes it (it's a great school), but she does have some complaints about it. For starters, it's rather known for having grade deflation compared to most schools (a relatively small percentage of students get A's), which means it's possible it's actually more work.

Also importantly, the structure of the campus makes parties pretty much impossible. There are few large rooms, and there are very severe restrictions on parties, so most students end up going to MIT fraternity parties. Don't get me wrong- MIT frats are terrific (it comes as a surprise to some people but they're actually great at throwing parties). But I'm just pointing out that BU's party scene isn't better than Harvard's (Harvard students can throw their own parties, and can also go to MIT ones, as I've done a number of times).

I'm interested in hearing why you think BU is more fun and less work. Like I said, though, it's a great school, and I know a lot of people there that have a lot of fun. In particular, the food is much better than the food at Harvard. (Actually, BU food is rather famously good, while Harvard food is mediocre relative to most colleges).
