So education dictates competence in leading a country? Cool… Poor Abe Lincoln must’ve been a horrid president.

Funny how we’ve never seen any of the work he completed while at the helm of the HLR or grades while at Harvard, Columbia, and Occidental. I would think it’d be pretty hard to be the editor of a major law review and not have much work available. Maybe not?

the lesser of two evils, sry… but it would of been a horrible world when Sarah Palin became president, (McCain is old so i see him passing away soon), Alaska doesn’t even like the rest of the States, so I don’t see how she would connect with the states.

Palin was the governor of a state. That in itself makes he far more qualified than a junior Senator from Illinois.

I’m not sold on Palin, but to say that Obama is the lesser of two evils is naive. I can guarantee you this: Sarah Palin would not have signed the most fiscally irresponsible spending bill in the history of our nation.

hippo, I never said that one’s education dictates one’s competence in running a country. You somehow extrapolated that. By saying that AA doesn’t take you that far, I implied (pretty blatantly, actually) that Obama is an intelligent guy, and that you need to be smart to earn accolades of that magnitude. (And if you still don’t follow – that you need to be intelligent to properly run a country)

and hippo, you’re an English major, not an Economics major. You don’t even know what fiscally irresponsible is. All that you know is that he’s spending money, and is a bottom-feeder in your Republican naivete.

**Just a note: Before deciding on english, I almost applied as an economics major. Almost. Maybe that makes me semi-qualified.

I don’t know what fiscally irresponsible is? That’s rich. Do we need to go through this? Do we need to go through the reasons why spending $787 billion + is fiscally irresponsible? Maybe after that we can debate about how this healthcare program is not what the nation needs right now? Maybe we can debate how elevating top tax rate to approx 60%, excess taxing on small businesses, and 5-6% tax on millionaires to help pay for healthcare (if you wish to call it that) is going to create incentives for the creation of jobs and investment?

You let me know if you’d like to debate any of this. I think it’s pretty clear. I’ll be waiting.

@Pskate: The life of experience I speak of does parallel others. And spare me the politically correct ********.

As for Obama.

As someone who use to vote republicans (I say use to because they have become so ridiculous in the last 6 months trying to go hard right), Bush started the bailouts, and rightly so. The stimulus bill was hardly fiscally irresponsible. Republicans need to put ideology aside and ****.

Now, if you were arguing that his push for trillion dollar healthcare and/or cap and trade bills were absurd fiscally, I would be willing to agree.

I like the assertion that Palin would certainly become president. As if it were fact. Let’s face it, both VP candidates were a joke. Biden is DQ 2. He has chronic foot-in-mouth disease.

I addressed that issue in my applications. I was acting like a dumbass. I skipped class, neglected to study for exams, failed to pay attention, and embraced more social life than academic. It was a recipe for failure, and that’s exactly what happened.
