Hey guys. I recently sent in an application for the Lombardi Scholars Program, and although I've checked up the website and everything, I still don't know too much about it. As for anyone who is or knows or is a parent of a lombardi scholar, what is the program like? And most importantly, does it provide an edge to graduate school admissions (compared with a regular student at say.. a private school in the northeast: wellesley, williams, etc...?)

Another thing, concerning the mentorship stuff, would anybody perchance know the actual quality of research produced (ie. is the research regular stuff thats presented at a meeting... or publishable material on a referred/peer-reviewed journal?).

Thanks!

I'd like these questions answered as well. This scholarship seems amazing and I would be so thrilled to get it.

Also, I know the interviews for finalists are on March 22, but does anyone know when notification occurs? I'm guessing it would have to be pretty early in March to allow time for travel arrangements.

Thanks! Good luck to everyone else who applied.

Yeah i'm pretty sure the notification date is March 1st. toydiamondring, if you are at liberty to discuss, is UF your first choice school?

UF is definitely my first choice. You?

Thanks for the March 1 info. :D

someone from my school got the scholarship two years ago. i don't know much about it, but i do know that you get to travel every summer to different places and study abroad.

Well, toydiamondring, I actually don't have a first choice school at all.. since everything is so unpredictable nowadays. bleh.

Yeah, the travel abroad stuff sounds very very appealing indeed!

YOU sent the application in?
Only one person can be nominated per school... your guidance counselor has to pick one person from your school and sent in the application themselves.

I didn't get chosen from my school. =( But being a Lombardi scholar would be awesome!

of course my counselor never said anything and never nominated anyone...

lol Medwell, I sent the application in after being nominated, and orangeblue.. I am so sorry that your GC didn't nominate anyone, that is rather irresponsible of him/her.

Has anyone heard yet? Or found out the exact notification date?
