Can anyone recommend a school in London/or/Great Britian for a student coming from a srtong academic private school with a 3.5GPA and 27ACT? Urban or rural, any size campus.

The two most prestigious universities in the UK ([Oxford](http://www.ox.ac.uk) and [Cambridge](http://www.cam.ac.uk)) are located outside London. There are however several well-known colleges located in London itself, e.g. [Imperial College](http://www.imperial.ac.uk), [LSE](http://www.lse.ac.uk), [UCL](http://www.ucl.ac.uk), and [King’s College](http://www.kcl.ac.uk). In order to give you more specific advice, I would have to know your stats (AP and SAT Subject Test scores) and your choice of major.

No AP tests yet, SAT 1650, plan on Bio or Enviro, CHem major w/ Chinese minor

Which will be pretty much impossible in the UK where minors don’t exist. You need to do some more research. To get into a Chemistry course in the UK you will need SAT IIS or APs in sciences (other subjects will be ignored as irrelevant). In general you have to apply to study one subject and cannot switch. there is slightly more room for changing course in Scotland, but it’s extremely unlikely that you could spend 4 years doing Chemistry with Chinese (could maybe do Chinese in the first year, or take classes which do not count towards your degree at all).

Do not assume anything will be the same when applying to foreign schools.

Check out Richmond in London: [Study at Richmond, The American International University in London](http://www.richmond.ac.uk/) Neighbor’s daughter is very happy there.

You can check the Independent’s rankings of UK undergraduate programs by major at [this site](<a href=“University Rankings and League Tables 2024”>http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/single.htm?ipg=8727). Roughly speaking, Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial College London top the rankings for biology and chemistry.

As Cupcake said, to apply as a prospective biology or chemistry student, you will be normally required to have AP Biology, AP Chemistry and possibly AP Calculus with scores of 4 or 5 (555 for the top schools like Oxbridge). Alternately, you may apply based on the IB diploma with chemistry, biology and mathematics at HL with scores of 6 or 7.

Also reinforcing what Cupcake said, it is not possible in England to “major” in natural sciences and take a modern language like Mandarin Chinese as a “minor”. Some schools (e.g. Imperial College in natural sciences/engineering and LSE in social sciences/humanities) allow you to take a foreign language, perhaps for a year or so, as an elective “outside option”, but you won’t get any special mention on your diploma or certificate like an American minor.

your stats are not good enough for the top 10 UK unis. I suggest you look at unis like Brunel, U of East London, Kingston, London South Bank, London Metropolitan and Middlesex.

Is Richmond AIU a possibility with these stats?

A 3.5 is more than sufficient for Richmond. If you are willing to leave London, take a look at University of Bath as well.
