LONG LIST:

Amherst
Williams
Swarthmore
Wake Forest
Carleton
Bowdoin
Smith
Wellesley
Grinnell
Colgate
Barnard
Dartmouth
Columbia
Yale

It's too expensive to visit colleges, so there's no chance for me to look at those schools.
I'm looking for small classes, ideally cool location(with snow), strong humanties, psychology programs where students have high acceptance rates at law school.
MOST importantly, fin. aid , my family income is $60,000 annually
PS I do have safeties-Canadian schools,so just looking for match-reach schools in the US

Contrary to JinFX's opinion, a LOT of people wants to go to Yale. It is one of US's finest schools.

You have a very good list of school. Your stats are good, and none of the schools will be a reach for you. You just have to apply and cross your fingers.

Since you need finaid you should know that Williams and Yale are both need blind. So applying for aid wont hurt your chances of admission at all. All the other schools in your list also gives aid but they are not need blind.

Umm...i think it snows in most of those places...since all the schools are in the East Coast.

The LACs whould have very strong humanities programs. The Ivies may have stronger psychology program.

In terms of getting into a top law school Yale and Williams are in the top 5 (i think no 3 and no 5 respectively) in the Wall Street Journal feeder school ranking. Amherst, Dartmouth, Swarthmore, Columbia follows closely behind.

I really think you have a great list there and you should get in somewhere good. Best of luck:)

Yale, Columbia, any Ivy, MIT, Stanford... are reach for ANYONE!!! Dream on...

Review: Your SAT scores are along the lines of the median SAT scores admitted to Ivies. Your ECs aren't exceptional...so HYPSMCC.. are reaches (surprise...surprise, who r they not for?)

Since you have safeties in Canade here's my revamped list of where you shd apply:

1.) Harvard
2.) Yale
3.) Princeton
4.) Columbia
5.) Brown
6.) Cornell
7.) Stanford
8.) Swarthmore
9.) Williams
10.) Grinnell
11.) choose another safety that U like...

The above list shd cover all the top feeders to Law school and includes 1-2 safeties (not that u need them cuz as u say u got Canada)

Generally, a school is a reach when your SAT scores and other academic accomplishments are below the average of that school. Yours are not.
That's precisely why i made the statement that none of those schools are reaches for you. Ofcourse that doesnt imply that you will surely get into those schools. There will be tons of applicants with equal or better stats. And there will be numerous with less impressive stats. Keep your hopes up. I really think you can get in somwhere good. And i am saying again - you have an excellent list.

Ohh..and if you dont mind - may i suggest Mt Holyoke and Middlebury to your list?
