Longhorn Game Day Invitation

My son (and one parent) received an invitation from the UT’s Office of Admissions today to attend a football game, campus tour, tailgate, etc. in October. He has submitted his application (Engineering Honors) and is an auto-admit…we haven’t heard anything about the status of his application yet.

Has anyone else gotten this? Has anyone done this in the past? If so, how was it? Is it something we shouldn’t turn down? Thanks

My son received the invitation his senior year (2016). They didn’t extend an invitation to the parent, looks like they changed that, which is good. He did go, I wouldn’t say that it was something he would have regretted if he didn’t go. It has nothing to do with being admitted. If you’ve never experienced a UT football game/tailgate, I say go.

My youngest son will be graduating this year and he has received several invitations from admissions for UT engineering events, but he didn’t receive anything for Longhorn Game Day. He is also auto-admit and submitted his application for Engineering Honors. Priority admission decisions will start rolling out in November. Good luck to your son!
