So as December is approaching, I decided to finalize my college list and stick with it. Suggestions wanted! So here goes.

From California

Currently at a 3.96 GPA unweighted
UC Weighted GPA at around 4.17

I’ve taken AP Human Geography, APUSH, AP Calculus AB, French 3 SL, English 3 HL, all other classes were honors
Currently taking AP Statistics, AP Calculus BC, English 4 HL, French 4 SL
Class rank at 25 out of 650

Superscored SAT at 2200
SAT Biology- 770
SAT USH-760
SAT Lit- 700

Intended Major: International Studies or Global Health

4 year member at a reputable orchestra (need to audition, nationally known)
Volunteering at a hospital for a year
Member of varsity tennis for two years, Captain on JV for a year
2 year volunteer at the local tennis academy teaching kids rules and etiquette
3 year Key Club member
1 year member of Public Health Club
Rather weak ECs, I know

My essay writing is pretty good; several advisers wanted a copy of my essays for their own records.
Getting my recommendations from an English teacher and social science teacher, plus the owner of the tennis academy I volunteer at and my music teacher.

Reasonable but conventional. If you are happy with Tulane offer you could drop some. I would drop unc as an ooser. I would be ok with the UCs as it is just one application. I would not ED II to those schools unless you like them better than the reaches. As it isn’t that hard to get in NYu id be surprised if you didn’t. 4 letters of rec are far too many, one extra only, show restraint and judgement.

@BrownParent Thank you! I will consider taking off Chapel Hill; I wrote a really unique essay but yes, it’s true that being OOS makes paying a big pain if I get in. And yes, now that I think about it, I would rather go to one of my reaches haha.

You can upload as many essays as you need to common app. Some schools require up to 3! I presume common app send the “max” allowed only to the school. So if a school only takes 1 max, it sends the #1 rec to that school. If it takes max 2 plus up to one supplemental, then it would send them and your tennis too. Don’t worry about that.

No to ED2. Your chances are good at those 2 in RD, and lid UCs are a bargain for you!!
