Hey so deadline's nearing and I'm nearing the finish of my essay as well.

editor-in-chief of my school’s paper here, would be delighted to read through it :)

I won’t be looking at your essay because as you know I’m a fellow ED-er.

But a word of advice: this close to the ED deadline, please specify to your readers what exactly it is that you’re looking for. a particularly critical reader could say that your paper is crap (i’m not insinuating that at all, only speaking hypothetically) in which case, you’d be stuck between trying to rush a new paper (which is likely to be substandard for obvious reasons) or submitting something that’s been labeled substandard by this reader.

While there is the chance that your reader will tell you something that you can just edit into a near-finished piece, from personal experience in editing and having my pieces edited, I’d say that it’s far more likely that at this stage your readers will either love or hate your piece. As such, I strongly recommend you to tell your readers to focus on things like diction, grammar and word choice which can easily be edited, instead of saying things that may cause you to doubt your entire essay.

Thanks for the advice srrinath. But if students don’t like the essay, what are the chances admissions officers will?

All writing is subjective. I, for example, despise most science fiction or writing that goes over the top in integrating patches of other languages. Others, however, love those sorts of writing.

More importantly, if you do find out that others don’t like it, you won’t have enough time to do much about it which will just make you feel more like your adcoms won’t like it.

Email me gaga_serenade@yahoo.com  I’ll read it.

Thanks everyone for helping!
