Hi, I'm a senior in high school who looks really young for her age and I've noticed its made people weary of being friends with me. How should I handle this in college? Most people don't believe that I'm 17 until I show them my lisence!

As long as you act your age you'll have no problem. And trust me, I can totally relate. When I went to the bank this summer to set up a checking account, the lady thought it was for my sister (14) and not me. So I definitely understand. I've done just fine here at school, making friends.

Well I grew a gotee... But that'd just be gross on you. :)

Just act your age and it won't be much of a problem.

At least you don't look 212 ;)

Oh i look extremely young too (my friends pick on me all the time about it)...however i found when i got to college there were a lot of people who looked way younger than me :)

Well, I remember the summer after I graduated from high school, the Avon lady came by. As we were waiting for my mom to come out, she asked me what year I would be in school. I proudly said that I would be a freshman. She then asked my what high school I would be attending. That sure burst my bubble! However, when I got to college, I was treated just like everybody else. People are less age conscious in college than in high school, so I doubt you will have any problems.

think of it this way... when you are 80, you'll look younger than everyone else, as well.

Looking younger than your age isnt nearly as lame as literally being that much younger than everyone else.

I'm a third year. It's Friday night. And I'm bored to death because all of my friends are of age, and I'm definitely not. I turn 21 4 months before I graduate. Sigh. Such a waste. grumble

/bitter

I also look so young!!! When i was a junior in high school, I went with my sister to 3rd grade orientation. And the lady at school asked me if i would be starting as a 6th grader. It was so upsetting.

i'm 18 but i could go for 15 :)

i'm like that too, and I get picked on by my friends (they call me the one beer wonder, which is TOTALLY not true) but just find ways to make fun of everyone else, its all in good fun, don't take it personally. That's what friends are for, to give you s h i t.

i'm 17, but i could go for anywhere from 7th grade and up, depending on how i dress lol.

but no one really treats me any different in college. people are less age conscious here, for the most part, and as long as you act your age, you should be fine

i look kinda young too, hopefully it wont be a problem

I actually like looking young (mainly because I'm really small) but it means I get to drink and still buy children's tickets on the train. So I can pass for 18 and 15. Works well for me!

If I looked young I could still get all the good promotions at Yankee Stadium. Now the best I can get util I turn 21 is the cheap hat they give at cap day. Wooo cap day!

5...I've found that people are more age conscious in college. People don't think I'm a freshman. Some folks think I'm 24...

act mature and you should be fine. no one will really pay attention.

and for guys, goatees and beards are an instant +5 years

I'd recommend updating your look, maybe a new hipper haircut and actually put on makeup and don't wear clothes you've had since you were 12.

In the past year I've been mistaken twice for someone that was about 12 years of age - and both times it was when I had my hair pulled back in a ponytail, no makeup and dressed frumpy. The first time I was visiting my mother in the hospital and the nurse made a comment that "It was so nice I was visiting my grandmother" and that "she had a daughter about my age" - I snubbly replied "Oh, so what college does she go to? I'm a junior at UCD so I can still visit my mother on the weekends".... The second time was a couple months ago.. my dad & I went to lunch at Denny's and the old waiter asked if I wanted the regular or kids menu... it was so long since I've been asked that so I stood there dumbfounded and said "Wow, haven't heard that in nearly a decade, I'm 21...not 12"

i've tried growing a beard.. but i cant!! ugh (or mustache)

I HATE having someone offer me a kids menu. When it happened at 15/16-ish I just blew it off, but now I just get ****ed and leave the restaurant (hey..got a short fuse!). On my 19th bday, the host was like "2 adults and one child"...well that one child drove home.
