Looking back: What class changed you the most?

What high school class or classes have you learned and grown the most in?

It’s really difficult for me to decide:

IB Physics - may have cemented my career choice
IB English - dramatically boosted my writing skills
IB History - our teacher was pretty amazing, and I still remember a lot of historical details in his narrative voice
AP Calculus/MVC - because calculus is awesome

AP Gov- gave me an idea of possible fields to consider
AP English- same as above, improved writing and gave me a stronger interest in writing/literature
AP Art History- similar to English

A lot of other classes have just made me realize that I dislike that subject and would not want to study it in the future.

I’m pretty much with you with your choices:

AP Physics C - because I love the topic, esp mechanics
AP Calculus and beyond - because math is too cool
AP English Lang - for how much it improved my writing
various theatre classes - helped me be less nervous speaking to a group

@letmeseetheworld Yeah, that’s what happened with me and film studies.

Marching band, because it taught me a lot about dealing with very very challenging people.

My writing improved a lot during junior year between AP Lang and APUSH (especially APUSH). I was a good writer before, but really knew how to crank out research papers after those two classes.

Intro to technology taught me a lot about how to sleep in class and never get caught c:

AP gov - it gave me confidence in myself and public speaking. Got to compete at nationals for the We the People competition in DC

AP Stats - by far the most useful courses I have taken. I have used it in my apes and patch final projects and it is still helping me in my college level research methods courses

9th grade honors english - I had an absolutely fabulous teacher who really taught me how to think differently and with a critical eye. Reading books in English became a pleasure when you start to notice all the hidden things the authors put in it. It also taught me not to always follow society’s expectations of you and to instead forge your own path, a motif I have continued to live by. she was one of my hardest and perhaps wonderfully crazy high school teachers, but she helped me grow the most

Definitely my Calc I class at the community college. First class outside my home, complete with timed tests that weren’t graded by my mom. While the structure took a little getting used to, I was well prepared knowledge-wise and gave me more confidence when thinking about going to college.

Lunch. I’ve learned it is the 2nd most important meal of the day.

This will sound silly, but I decided to become a mathematician after taking Algebra II. It was the first time I had ever learned about proofs or the history of mathematics.

Intro to Film- Became a possible major/minor for me
AP Psych- best class I took, opened up the door to the social sciences for me for college
AP Comp- nicest teacher I ever had, made me a way better writer

So far? Definitely Honors Algebra II/Trig. It helped me discover how much I really loved math and the teacher was great as well.

I’m only a rising sophomore, but so far, Debate has definitely changed me the most. We talked about many sensitive topics and heard both sides of the story, and it really opened my eyes to many things that go on.

@jakejake637 hey, I did debate in high school as an EC, and do it today in university. Always happy to see a fellow ass-hole…um, intellectual.

AP Physics I - showed me how much I really loved the subject
Chemistry honors - same^
pre-calc honors - really changed the way I thought about math

all these classes helped me decide what I will major in in college… engineering!

AP world history- had an amazing teacher who really opened my eyes to a lot of different people and cultures.
Biotechnology- made me hate science lol. My teacher was extremely crazy and rude. But i made a lot of friends!

AP Language and Composition and Public Forum- I grew so much as a writer and I grew intellectually. My thought process matured.

AP Physics has been my favorite AP class by far, but AP World probably changed me the most; it was my very first AP class, and I worked my butt off for that class.
