Looking for a 9 month lease near FSU

I am looking for a 9 month lease near FSU to start in August. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am looking for an apartment, house, loft or duplex. It can be for one, two or three people. Any help would be appreciated.

My aunt and cousin were looking at apartments near White & Dixie off Pensacola. I remember it was nice, a gated community, great pool/club house, good size 3 and 4 bedrooms and they even find you a roommate. It was the University Club Townhouses.

And then there’s several links to different communities here:

Good luck!

Finding a 9 mos lease is tough. Most times you have to take a 12 mos and try to sublet for the summer next year :(.

That’s true. I know my aunt discussed this, and Embassy-something apartments has 9 month leases - I didn’t see this place because we left them while they looked for apartments and we went back to FSU for something else. They contacted a realtor friend - I wish I remember her name because she gave them a bunch of properties to go look at. I was paying attention, because I really want to live on campus and I was waiting for my Mom and Aunt to pressure me into living in an apt with my cousin whom I’m close with, so I was torn. She’s going to school up north which was her first choice. So it worked out in the end for us both. :)

Also look east of campus. Lots of space for rent.

And remember that a conventional lease will be for 1st of month to 1st of month. If you take a 9 mos lease Aug 1, you will need to move out by April 30th. If the term goes to May 3, you will have to totally be out before you are done with finals.

There are certain “student housing” apartment complexes that might rent 9 mos from mid Aug to early May, but like a dorm, move in days and move out days are nonnegotiable, and they are often the “student ghettos” that you have to look over very carefully. They do let you sign for just your “bedroom” and then place other students in the other bedrooms of the apartment so you are not signing a lease for the entire apartment. Meaning if you are the leaseholder and your roommate bales, you are not stuck paying the entire rent when you can’t find a new roommate, you only pay your share. But just be sure you understand what you are getting into with a 9 mos lease. They can be tricky. And you have no control over roommates unless you get friends to all sign together. And you can still be two friends in a 3 bedroom with another person placed there.
