Looking for a College, not sure where to start.

I really am overwhelmed here. I feel like I have a good amount of options, and I need to narrow them down so I can do some intensive research.

I'm a Junior in High School. I am very likely going to graduate in at least the top 8 percent of my class. I plan on going into an IT field, though I'm not sure about specific focuses yet. Money isn't an object in my decision.

I live in the north region of Texas, so I'm likely not going to go to any schools on the coasts. I don't mind traveling a bit out of state though. I believe I'd like to live in, or near by, an urban area with a large amount of people.

I'm not sure what to think about the social aspects of campuses. I think I want to avoid big party schools, but anything less than that would be fine. I'm not big on sports, so I don't mind if the presence for them is low. If I had to pick a couple of words to describe the base of people at an ideal campus for me, I would say warm and accepting. Just people that are easy to get along with.

Any suggestions are welcome, as I'm just trying to find some options to focus on at the moment. If any more information is needed, feel free to ask. Thanks.

Minnesota
Northwestern

Both in urban areas, not party schools, friendly people.

If you don’t know how much help your parents can give you towards paying for your education, the time to find that out is now. Ultimately, money will be an object in your decision. For example, the two universities recommended by Haystack have very different Costs of Attendance (tuition, fees, housing, meals, estimated books/travel/personal expenses), which means that if Minnesota is barely affordable for you, Northwestern would be impossible without serious financial aid.

For ideas on how to deal with any money issues that you identify, spend some time in the Financial Aid Forum, and at [FinAid! Financial Aid, College Scholarships and Student Loans](http://www.finaid.org)

Wishing you all the best!
