I've always wanted to go to either UCLA or UCB, but I need to widen my range of colleges to aim for. If anyone could suggest some colleges to look at, it'd be great!

In a very general overview, I'm currently taking 5AP's (I'm a Junior), and I took one last year. I plan on taking another 5 my senior year, possibly 6 if I my GLC allows me to.

I get A's and B's but I usually get one or two B's every year. ):
I go to a public school, it's fairly decent. I forget the exact rankings but it's top 80 or so in California.
I plan to get 4's and 5's on my AP tests.
I got a 2000 on my first SAT, and I'm taking it again in Jan. I plan to get around a 2100-2200? Hopefully.

For extra curriculars, I'm very active in two clubs at my school and I'm an officer in one of those. I was part of prom/class committee. I've tested into level 8 of the CM (piano) and I do some more outside volunteer activites as well.

I know I'm fairly average, so I understand UCLA and UCB may be dream schools now. I'm sorry this post was so long, but it would be extremely helpful if someone could comprise a short list of possible schools I could aim for (back up, dream, and something I could likely get in). Thank you!

Both are low reach/high matches. Improve your ECs so you have more leadership positions, and try to get 2200+. Then you have a decent chance at both.

You can apply to the other UCs as safeties.

I assume you are from CA. there is an entire country to choose schools in. the entire state of CA government is on the verge of collapse.(no money , over regulation and taxation is driving out actual taxpayers at a very high rate making things worse faster) I would not bank on the UC system 3-4-5 years out.

have you looked at schools like Vanderbilt or Rice (or perhaps Drake or Butler)?
or maybe some lac’s were you will not be treated like cattle , the way the UC system treats students.

haverford college, muhlenberg college, hendrix college or carleton college?

Oh yeah, I was planning on planning to UCI as a safety. thanks though! I’m trying to apply for a volunteer position at a hospital and law firm. However, do you think a summer leadership program would help? Edit: Also would a job help? I’m about to start a job after winter break!

Hmm I hadn’t really though of out of state colleges, though it does sound like a really good idea… I’ll look into the colleges you mentioned, thanks!
