Looking for a college

Hello,
I'm international, looking for a college which requires SAT Subject Tests instead of SAT for abroad students, and a college which offers financial aid for internationals.
I've found only one university which fits this criteria - MIT. But it's hard to get there, and i need 2nd option in case i won't get into MIT...
Thanks

Even the brightest with amazing stats don’t get into MIT. Most schools require the SAT and then more selective schools require SAT subject tests. Why can’t you take the SAT? This will open up your options much more.

Yes, i’m going to take SAT test, but i’m just interested if it’s possible to get into college without SAT I. The only reason is that i’m not sure if i can do well on SAT I. I got 99 on TOEFL and 700+ on both SAT Chem & Math… But my SAT I score most likely won’t be on the same level.

I think you are lacking some confidence … 700+ on both Chem and Math SAT II’s indicate that at least part of your SAT I will be very strong. If you know what areas of SAT I (verbal) you would be nervous, can you get some add’l help or take some online practice tests? If you can buy a used SAT study book, you can practice the verbal section enough to know what your strengths and weaknesses are. And keep in mind, MIT is a reach for everyone, including those with 700+ in math and science, so look at other schools that are not such long shots (Boston U, Tufts, U. of Rochester, RPI, RIT … etc. … all great science/math schools).

Thank you for your response.
I never did really well on SAT Writing and Reading sections. My scores will be enough for many schools, but i need to apply for financial aid, so i have to apply for the universities with need-blind admissions.
Yes, these colleges are great, but it’s hard to get aid there. As i know, they don’t guarantee it…

okay thanks, i will check your site

Post your question on the international applicant threads. I think you may get some more responses. I understand why the concern over the SAT CR and W sections when you aren’t a native english speaker. I wonder if you should apply to some schools that are “test optional”, but am sure they will still require TOEFL. You subject tests can still be submitted and can only help you. Still, prep and take the SAT and you may be happy with your scores. It’s worth a shot and then if you choose not to submit, then look at the “test optional” schools (?).

The next step would be looking looking at each school’s FA page and see if they offer FA to internationals. Here’s the link the the intern’l threads:

they know a lot more!

Good luck!

jkiwmom, thank you for your response. I’ve seen that site, but their list includes colleges that don’t require SAT… but for example MIT recommends to take subject tests instead of SAT I for internationals, and it’s not in that list… i’m looking for universities with similar admission requirements. Yes, i’ve taken TOEFL, my result is 99.
Thanks, i will post in International Students forum now :)

Any more suggestions, please?
