Looking for a decent state college

I have a GPA of arround 3.0, and a SAT score of 2050. I'm not looking for some kind of ivy league school, but a decent university like CUNY, University of South Carolina, or Clemson. I did bad my freshman year and failed 2 classes, Spanish and Geometry. Mostly duo to me being pretty immature during that time period. I did retake them and make B's in them so this is how my transcript goes like

8th Grade

Algebra I - C(83)
English I - B (90)

9th Grade

Geo - F retake (C)
Spanish I - F retake (B)
World History H - B (89)
Biology H - B (88)
English II H - C (82)

10th grade

Physics H - B (87)
Chem I H - B (90)
Gov/Econ H - B (86)
Alg II H - B (91)

11th Grade
Chem 2 H - B(85)
AP CHEM - A
AP USH - A
AP Eng./Lit - B
ALG III H- B(86)

12th grade

Hopefully All A's, lol.

I do have a steady trend of going up in grades, but my Freshman year is pretty much killing my GPA and it kind of makes me depressed, but I just want to go to a decent state university for now. So, what are my chances?

Colleges love to see improvement, and you’ve got a nice SAT score. I’m not gonna say it’s a sure thing, but I think you’ve got a decent chance to get into Clemson, and a great chance to get into University of South Carolina and CUNY

And CUNY odds depend on which CUNY campus… Brooklyn and Hunter being among the more selective ones. We want to see your EC file as well.

I really don’t have much “Ec’s.” I’m a pretty top chess player in the chess team circuit at my state, and I plan on doing some science projects, that’s really about it. I just need a decent state college, really. I’m not looking for something amazing, just something that’s not horrible and has a decent premed or chemistry program. I was told City college and College of Staten Island have a decent premed program, so I was thinking about going to those. By the way I’m out of state but I have a house in Newyork, so I don’t know if that would qualify me for something.

I’ll chance you now.

Clemson: Match
U South Carolina: Safety
CCNY: Low match
Staten Island: Safety (low match if you’re talking about the honors college)

Is the Staten island college, that bad? In your opinion, what’s a good match college for me in Newyork, really in the Newyork city area, thanks !
