Looking for a few forms...

Where are the transfer credit forms (err, when's this due?) and scholarship report forms located? Thanks

the sites you get them from are http://registrar.stanford.edu/students/academics/xfer_credit.htm and http://www.stanford.edu/dept/finaid/forms.html

transfer credit form
http://registrar.stanford.edu/pdf/xfer_credit_request.pdf

scholarship form
http://www.stanford.edu/dept/finaid/pdf/07OutsideNotif.pdf

just to let you know, you dont HAVE to fill out the scholarship form. they'll apply whether you tell them about it ahead of time or not.

by the way...i love firefox's automatic google search thing in the address bar. "stanford transfer credit" is all it took...

yeah that search thing is most impressive, ive been using firefox for a couple years not and was ignorant to that ability.

haha...i hate it when you find out something you've had forever does something that's really impressive and you never knew. but i guess it's good to know, sooner or later.

there's also the fact that you can change the options to where you just start typing a word and it'll find it on the page, instead of having to do ctrl+f. and tabs are glorious (ctrl+t). also, you can switch tabs with ctrl+tab or go to specific ones by hitting ctrl+F3 if it's the third tab or ctrl+F4 if it's the fourth. ctrl+w to close is cool too. ok i'll stop now.

If I obtain transfer credit for the course, is the grade in the course reflected in my Stanford GPA? I got a "B" in a course I would like to get credit for (I got a 5 on the AP exam that accompanied it; our final was not cumulative and was at the same time as AP so I focused on AP thinking my grade was safe but ended up coming up short). In other words, I feel okay getting the credit and skipping it but don't want it to hurt my GPA...

no your HS grades don't facotr into your college GPA. if you have ap credit they only go by your score. it doensn't affect your gpa if you take credit or skip ahead.

Sorry, I should have mentioned the course is a community college course. Does that make any difference?

Maybe I will be more specific. I want to skip out of Econ 1A and Econ 1B. To do this I need a petition for some sort of "fast track" program (they say AP credit alone isn't necessarily sufficient). It says that if I participate in the fast track program I will need to replace 1A and 1B with upper level courses.

While that might not be a problem, I would like the option of opting out of the courses completely without having to take additional courses. Therefore, it would help to get straight credit for Econ 1A (using my college Micro course) and Econ 1B (using the Macro) that would count toward my major. However, I don't want to already have a "B" on my Stanford transcript before I even get there.

Sorry for all this...just trying to be clear! THANKS! :)

Anyone have an answer?

Stanford's policy does not record the GPA on your transcript or release it externally, so you could just report your GPA using only Stanford classes and no one would question it. Now if you end up applying to grad school, that's another story, since they ask to see transcripts of all your college classes.
