Title says it all. I'm not sure if what I have are Medeco keys as they're not labeled "Medeco" but the cut seems more complicated than normal keys.

Any Chinese key-smith will do it for you.

that’s racist

srsly go find some independent keysmith that has like a small shop/kiosk kind of thing theyll do it for you most of the time they dont give two ****s

Thanks but can anyone provide a specific location? I tried a locksmith with an Asian guy in the alley next to Unit 3 today but it was a no go.

[“do not duplicate” Berkeley](<a href=“http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=“do+not+duplicate”&ns=1&find_loc=berkeley]"do”>http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=“do+not+duplicate”&ns=1&find_loc=berkeley)

not super helpful sorry. I know there’s at least 3 lock places on university.

If the key looks complicated, then good luck. Most people who cut keys buy the blanks that are commonly sold. However, if a company limits the sale of its blanks, its going to be difficult to find someone who has a blank to cut one for you.

For example, the dorm keys are a pain in the ass to copy. Berkeley Housing contracts a company that uses its own special key sets, thats why it costs a $100 to replace a key. Its for another added layer of security.

When ever I want to duplicate keys, I go to oakland chinatown and get a copy done for about $2. They either dont care about the do not duplicate sign or cant read english. As long as the key works, I ain’t complaining.

Finally, there is always the possibility of you machining your own key. There are numerous machine shops on campus… and cough cough if you you really wanted too, you could cut your own copy, though it would take quite a bit of skill.

-From my own experiences
