Looking for a school with a good reputation in Intl Relations/Poli Sci

I know this has been asked before and such. However, I'm so not looking for an Ivy-league school.

I already know that Georgetown U is a good university for the field. What else?

Thanks in advance.

American
GW
BU
Hopkins
Tufts

.............etc

Look at Occidental's World and Diplomacy program, they have an oxy at UN where their students can intern at the UN..its an amazing school with great programs :D

I heard William & Mary also has a good International Relations program.

There have been a million posts on this, some of them yielding pages of results. Try doing a search.

yeah isnt Oxy's Dipolmacy and World affairs ranked 1 or 2?

Occidental is a great school that I would have considered going too. They have an amazing study abroad program, its a small, tight knit school, and apparently theres alot of partying too!

University of Chicago has a highly regarded International Studies major with concentrations in such areas as Latin American Studies, etc. They also have a center in Paris and numerous programs abroad including Spain, South Africa and Mexico. A recent issue of Foreign Policy Magazine rated their undergraduate program in international studie/relations as number 7 in the country.

U Virginia and Georgetown are both very good. American would be all right too, if you don't mind going broke living in a dump.

Chicago would probably be an excellent choice as well.

Claremont McKenna has a strong political science and diplomacy department, very small school but a lot of opportunities and nice area. UTexas's supposedly has a strong poli-sci program if you're looking for a larger public university

yep, American, George Washington....basically anywhere near DC

On the west coast, check out Pitzer & Lewis & Clark.

I know that IR, Poly Sci, and of course a double major in IR AND Poly Sci are all extremely popular at USC. Here is the website for the School of International Relations: http://www.usc.edu/dept/LAS/ir/

Sorry to hijack, but...

Georgetown doesn't actually offer a polisci major (that I've seen), even though the field is so strong (so I've heard). So, if someone wanted to concentrate in that, what would you major in?

I visited Lewis & Clark and after talking to the professors I concluded that the Political Science program there is too small/weak. If you know right now that you want a polysci/gov major, you could find a better fit than L&C.

Looking at the number of Fulbright Scholars will give you a good indication of the strength of an IR program.

cantsaythatido: I didn't plan on going up to Oregon. The west coast really isn't my thing.

Snoop, Gtown offers Government in the College, which is basically synonymous with Poli Sci. Also the entire School of Foreign Service is basically very specialized subsections of different poli scis with an international twist.

Georgetown's Political Science major must be taken as International Politics

Tufts, JHU, Georgetown, Princeton, Columbia, Syracuse, Vassar, GW, American, Harvard

Tufts,Holy Cross, Bowdoin, Davidson.
