<p>I Have taken 5 Ap's so far and will be taking another 4 this year for a grand total of 9.
my scores on them: Ap World History (3), Ap Envrio (4), Ap lang (4), Ap US History (4), Ap Psychology (4). And will be taking Lit, Calc Ab, Us Gov, and Human Geo this year.</p>

Sat 2's: Us history (770) and Math lvl 1 (710)</p>
<p>Ec's: Jv basketball (9th and 10th grade),Varsity basketball(11th and 12th), National Honors society, mu alpha theta, and several other volunteer work. </p>

<p>Really would love to hear some suggestions of other colleges that I should look into/apply to.</p>
<p>To be honest, I wouldn’t bother applying to Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Emory, Brown, or Rice unless you want to apply to one for ED. Your GPA is decent, but your class rank is somewhat high for those top schools. Yet, they do put you within a striking distance of those schools. But I see the problem in your slim extracurriculars, and your SAT score probably will not cut it as well. All in all, you have decent stats in every area, but in all of those areas, you fall short of schools of that magnitude. I think Emory or Vanderbilt might be the schools you may want to look into more, but it is still a long-shot. </p>
<p>As to other schools to apply to, I don’t know what your preferences are for location, what you want to study, etc… Sorry.</p>
<p>I think you have excellent chances at the Florida schools. Unsure on the others. I would also consider looking into schools like Boston University, Tulane and NYU. Best of luck!</p>
<p>Thanks guys for the responses. Do you think that if I am able to raise my SAT score then I will have a better shot at some of these colleges? I am taking it again in October so hopefully I’ll increase my score.</p>
<p>If you are interested in majoring in Business, Rice does not offer a Business major, only a Business minor. Rice is a bit of a reach, in my opinion, but may not be in play now if you want to major in Bus. UMich (Ross) has an extremely competitive pool. If you are not in-state, UNC (Chapel Hill) is tough getting into since they must first take a high percentage of applicants from NC, before taking OOS applicants. I still think you have a chance at both of these schools but I’d consider them low reaches. </p>

<p>Your stats seem to match both these schools. At USC I think (?) you apply with your intended major and then you officially declare the major/school after your Freshman year. Best of luck to you!</p>

Yep thanks. Its kind of annoying that some think that it is high. But in actuality its really just that we have a very large and competitive class. It’s definitely not an easy school or anything I’ve had to work extremely hard to attain this rank. </p>

<p>Might look at Holy Cross(don’t have to be religious) very good school 1 hour from Boston. Holy Cross has good combination of academics-great business alumni network and athletics.</p>
<p>Your rank is fine albeit a little high for a school like Brown, but I didn’t say that your rank would be the problem. If you have a very competitive class then admissions officers should be able to tell that and your rank will not be too big of a drawback. I think what will hurt you the most is your lack of extracurriculars because there are plenty of people who get into top 20-25 schools with your SAT score and GPA. I think that is what will hurt you the most.</p>
<p>^ Ok Thanks very much for clearing that up. Yes I agree that my rank is prob a little bit higher than I’d like. I have tried to get involved in more EC’s but its really hard because basketball really does take up so much of my time. Usually everyday till about 6pm. Not sure If colleges understand that though.</p>
<p>There is a spot on the CommonApp to indicate how many hours per week, weeks per year you do a certain activity. I mean if you are doing a rigorous activity year-round, I don’t know whether college admissions officer’s would prefer that over spreading it out between multiple activities. That is anyone’s guess. But I know at my school (and I played a varsity sport too), that the clubs are very easy to join and really aren’t “terribly” time consuming unless you really want them to be. Even as an officer, you can do a lot without cutting into your sport’s time. </p>
<p>You did mention volunteering…how many hours do you have?</p>
<p>I have 370 hours spread out among volunteering at a summer camp, beach clean ups(I live in FL), collecting used shoes for an underprivileged area, and also I helped out when we hosted a basketball tournament at our school for younger kids.</p>
<p>I think par72 really likes Holy Cross as evidenced by several of his posts. That’s okay, I am very partial to Boston College… Carroll School of Management… Go EAGLES!!!</p>
<p>I think that there is a separate category (I kind of forget to be honest) where you list summer jobs/activities. Regardless, that is a boatload of volunteer hours. THAT is something that will catch an admissions officer’s eye. So there are no other in-school activities that you participate in?</p>
