I posted this in the Yale forum, but I think this might actually be a more appropriate location for it.

I'm think I have my senior year schedule pretty much figured out, and was looking for some advice. Most of my classes thus far have focused in psychology or the natural sciences.

AP Physics
AP Lit
AP Calc BC
Govt or Econ
AP Spanish
Honors Anat/Phys

CSU Classes:
Child Psychology
Crit. Reasoning (Saturday class)

ONLINE (local community college): Lifespan Development (Psych class)

I'd still be done with school M-TH by 230 or 330, and have a free period I can spend as a TA or just relaxing.

I'm wondering about how heavy this course load will be. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

it really depends on your school. some teachers give a lot of homework while others dont. at my school, ap calc and ap lit would have the highest amount of homework. our calc teacher expects 120 minutes outside of class 5 nights a week and our lit teacher expects 90. that might vary at your school. anatomy and physiology will involve a lot of memorization and repetition, so that could be time consuming. for your online class, i think it might take roughly 7-9 hours a week, but it depends on how many papers you have to write and everything. thats about how long my online anthropology class takes me, and we have eight 1 page papers and two 7 page papers.

hope this helps, good luck.

It does help. I'm not sure what to expect of some of my classes, but I guess it is better to assume that they will give me more work than less. So, I'll drop one class. I'm not sure, which. Either lifespan development or child psychology for sure, though. Thanks!

I have a really hard snr schedule but I am going to drop a class and hopefully get an independent study or something in its place

Wouldn't an independent study end up being a lot of work, too? I'm assuming you get credit for independent studies.

My school doesn't allow independent studies.

Your schedule's like my schedule. I also have a free period.

Are you taking your courses at Colorado state or California State University campuses?

You should be fine, but make sure you have time to fill out college apps.

Time to fill out college apps is actually my biggest worry. Plus, I'm president of two very active clubs and a few other things here and there.

The classes are at a Cal State. I will definitely just drop one course. I'm really interested in everything, but I think lifespan development might cover some of the topics in child psych.
