Hi everyone! I have been watching the posts here for a while, and I finally decided to register as a user and post asking my own chances.

GPA: 2.71 / 3.39
Rank: 84 / 90
SAT: 1320 / 2010 (predicted based on PSAT)
School: Competitive magnet

APs: Computer Science, Calclulus, Biology, US History, English
ECs: Debate (local awards), GSA, SGA

Weaknesses: No state/national awards, no leadership positions, bad grades/rank
Strengths: Committed to debate, high SAT scores, low family income (less than $35k)

I would like to be chanced for the following schools:
FSU
UF
UCF
USF
New College
URochester
UConnecticut

Your SAT is good enough for all of those schools, I believe, but your GPA and rank aren’t. I would still say that you have a decent chance at the Florida schools other than UF – UF puts a HUGE emphasis on GPA so that’s going to be a reach. I’m not sure about the other two though!

thanks!
be as brutally honest as you want. I’m not looking for sugarcoating, I’m looking for true chances. I want to have realistic expectations this fall!

I said that it was a match on the basis of your high test scores and low family income. Though your GPA is not the greatest, and your rank is not the greatest either, with good essays I think you can get in, although it is more of a high match or a low reach. Pistolen is focusing mainly on the GPA and rank, and if adcoms at FSU do than your chances aren’t the greatest, but with your weighted GPA and high test scores I think you have a pretty good shot. Pistolen also asked if you are a URM (e.i. are you black or hispanic). If so, your chances of admission are a lot better.

first off. DAMN what a small class you have.
I am hearing rumors about rank not even mattering anymore. As they are rumors don’t take them as the truth.
GPA wise your honestly going to be in a big jam.
Testing is your only hope.

FSU - big Reach- GPA kills you.
UF - No. almost 99% because the GPA and very limited spots
UCF - Reach
USF - low reach
New College - would depend on college I think. reach

FAU, UNF, and a few other schools are more in line with your gpa and your SAT is very unpredictable, regardless of PSAT.
