So im really into snowboarding and cant seem to find the right school for me. I really want to go to a school near the mountains and i cant seem to find the right one. Some of the universities require scores I just dont have and the others are just not good enough.

I will be graduating with a IB diploma
My predictions for the IB exams is a 33 in total
And my GPA is a 79 out of a 100.

I dont know how to convert it to a 4 point scale because i dont know if we get the extra grade point (like i did when i took ap courses when i lived in Texas) since the courses are IB courses.
Please suggest some colleges near the mountains that i will be able to get into! Thanks in advance!

Oh and my SAT is 1800
ACT 29
and im planning on studying Political Science and/or International Relations and Affairs

What state are you located now? And are you wanting a smaller college (liberal arts college-LAC), or a med.–large university, do you want a very liberal climate or more mainstream?

Im going to be graduating from a school in Europe, but i am a Texas State resident and US citizen. The size of the school does not really matter for me since i attended both large public schools and small private schools. Liberal and mainstream also don’t really matter to me.

I was thinking about Boulder in Colorado but dont think i will be able to get in.

Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado is a small college (2,300 students) in a beautiful but very cold/small town in the Rockies; 1/2 the town is the college. It’s at 8,000 ft elevation and about 30 minutes from Crested Butte skiing. Beautiful place and lots of outdoor recreation. Good luck!!

We need more information.
What is your approximate class rank? Top 25%?
What else are you looking for besides good snowboarding? Big school? Small school?
What about costs? Can your family afford the full price tag for any school? If not, will you qualify for need-based aid?

For good snowboarding/skiing, you have two major choices: Northern New England or the mountain West (Colorado Rockies, Lake Tahoe area, parts of the PNL, etc.) Possibilities:

Lewis & Clark
May be a big reach, depending on how your GPA and rank are assessed. Your ACT is well within their median band. You may get a good boost for your IB diploma and perhaps for geographic diversity.

Willamette University
Another reach school in Oregon, 48 mi. S. of Portland.

Bennington College
Maybe a tad less selective than L&C or Willamette.

Fort Lewis College
Less selective than the above, in Durango, CO.

Western State College
Also less selective than L&C etc.; in Gussison CO.
My brother in law (an instructor of ski instructors) went here. He loved it. Beautiful area.

University of Denver is a definitely a school you should look at. I think they have good poli sci and international relations programs too. And from what I’ve heard there are many kids who take off and go to the mountains every weekend.

State University of New York (SUNY) - Plattsburgh. In the heart of Adirondack country, and not far from Vermont ski venues. As a bonus, Montreal is about 1 hour’s drive away.

My family can afford to send me to a college near 45,000. My school also does not do class rank. We have a graduating class of only 75 i believe. Thanks so far for the suggestions given so far, i will definitely be looking into the schools given!
