looking for colleges that will fit me..

alriite.. thanks again for all the great advice :)

I disagree. Swat is politically liberal but socially its not. That is just not true, I've been there. Vassar is very liberal socially, not your thing. I think Haverford would be perfect.

I'd like to mention that Grove City 25th-75th SAT scores are 1153-1384, about the same as UCLA, UNC Chapel Hill, Holy Cross. It is one of the more selective Christian colleges. So is Wheaton College in Illinois. Wheaton is a Christian College with 1230-1420 SATs, about the same as Colgate, Hamilton, Bates, and Oberlin.

To Lifeisgood360:

Vanderbilt's greek system is huge. 40% of men are in fraterntities and 50% of women in sororities. (Except they aren't totally traditional frats/sororities. A lot of them are very service oriented and you only live in the house if you are an offiicer of the frat/sor. Parties are open to everyone.) But obviously with that many students it does mean there is a lot of drinking on the weekends. However I don't think there is pressure to drink. And becasue there are a lot of Christains at the school and in the area, there will be both non drinkers and entertainment for non drinkers.
( i only mention this b/c i thought you mentioned somewhere that you don't drink)
As far as your chances:
It is a competitve university but I think you have a really good shot.
Perhaps you could explain these more

"i have roughly 2200 in the SAT's"
What exactly was the score and more importantly what were your CR/M/W subscores?
Here is a profile of the Class of '09 scores

Mid 50% range SAT I Verbal: 640-730
Mid 50% range SAT I Math: 660-740
Mid 50% range SAT I Composite: 1320-1450
Mid 50% range ACT Composite: 29-33

"i have a 4.3 gpa " Was these weighted or unweighted?

either way that is probably higher than the average at Vandy so that seems strong. Class rank wise top 5% is good. (Do you know your exact rank or just a percentage?)
here is what class of 09 had

Private High School Students
1st Quintile 87.9%
2nd Quintile 7.3%
3rd Quintile 3.4%

I think you should definately apply if you're interested. and just a personal feeling, but 2200 on SAT would probably be signifcantly above average there. 6-7 APs will help as will the Languages you speak.

Hansel--
i got a 800m/700cr/710w
my uw gpa is 4.0/4.0 and weighted is like 4.95/5.00 somethin like that (but im positive of my uw gpa)
class rank yeah definitely top 5% which is 3/60.. i want to say im second but in modesty i'll say 3rd

thanks for the extensive info on vanderbilt.. i'll definitely lookinto it and i appreciate it a lot.. what are some liberal arts colleges on my level besides haverford/swathmore other ppl mentioned? thanks!

Congrats! With those scores you would have an incredible chance to get in at Vandy (and swarthmore and the other schools you mentioned) :)
i would say Vandy is a low match school for you. I'd like to say you'll definately get in, but sometimes admissions are so wacky. lol
Good luck, you'll definatley end up somewhere awesome, I hope you find what you're looking for.

so vanderbilt added to my list.. how wud i do for swathmore/haverford/williams/amherst/u-mich--ann arbor/and UNC Chapel Hill?

I think its a good list.

Holy Cross, University of Tulsa, Rhodes College, Austin College, Southwestern U, Grove City College, Drew U

Conservative schools with good academics and beautiful campuses: Hillsdale College in Michigan, and Furman in S. Carolina. These 2 places make Dartmouth look like Wesleyan on Friedrich Engels' birthday.

Wesleyan on Friedrich Engels birthday makes Dartmouth look like Furman.

How about:

Colgate, Hamilton, Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, University of the South, Emory, Occidental, University of Rochester, University of Chicago, Northwestern.

BTW, Georgetown is not conservative. UNotre Dame, yes.
