Thanks, I really appreciate your help!

should i apply ED, EA? i hear its a disaster for financial aid.

Have you considered NYU? It is VERY urban, though not having a campus may not appeal to you. Other suggestions include Boston College, maybe Boston U, though it's similar to NYU as in not having a true campus, and Fordham. Not sure if you just want the northeast, but Georgetown fits your criteria as well.

Only apply ED if you have a #1 school that is above the rest. As for EA, go for it if schools on your list have it. There's no downside, and you'll find out in December.

Brandeis and Rhodes.

Tufts, Chicago, Rice and Macalester came to mind immediately. Also Pomona andSwarthmore/Haverford/Bryn Mawr.

For a safety, you might want to consider University of Washington-Seattle, your state school, and perhaps a school like Goucher, which requires students to study abroad.

If you're comfortable with Fordham's religious affiliation, you also might want to check it out. (I see another poster already suggested it).

If you are looking for schools that give good financial aid packages, then the story changes a little bit, and you're probably best off heading over to the financial aid forums to learn about schools that give good need-based and merit-based aid.

i havent looked into fordham. first thing comes to mind is law? do they have a strong medical/scientific research program?

ive actually visited georgetown and liked it a lot. i love dc.
