I’m south-east Asian and I’ve lived in America and Australia if it changes anything.
Try Alabama – they have some automatic scholaships. You may also want to look at U of Maine at orono. They are offering tuition-matching for US students, but they may be willing to make an offer to you. You never know.
Few schools offer FA much less full rides to any international students.
Also – your list of schools are so vastly different from each other. It’s hard for me to make sense of things.
How is it that you’re both interested in Soka and in MIT?? One has zero tech and the other is about 90% tech and what isn’t tech is tech aligned,
Need-based schools that offer 100% needed aid – they are NOT full ride. I’m not sure if that’s clear to you yet. Schools that offer 100% of need-based aid may determine that your family, though low-income, can still put in several thousand dollars a year. That’s their determination of your “need”.
Honestly, I think you need to start again, @Ijud009. As stated above, your listed schools possess few characteristics in common. Your EBRW score would also appear too low for several – actually, nearly all – of them. However, you could do quite well at a nice school such as Wheaton (MA). In any case, I’d recommend you consider colleges in a statistical vicinity compatible with your indicated preparation. Soka could work for you, though, provided they offer your programs of interest.
Wheaton in Mass seems great for you, if you like Soka.
Sewanee might work for you
Also consider –
Hobart and William Smith
Are you female? If so, consider Agnes Scott, Mills, Hollins University, Simmons. For reaches in women’s schools consider Bryn Mawr, Mt. Holyoke and Smith, Barnard and Wellesley
Also consider Hampshire (as it has a Soka feel a little bit although more crunchy granola than Soka)
St. Olaf
Earlham
Wooster
St. Lawrence University
Wells
Denison
Dickinson
Washington College
Rhodes
Hendrix
Centre
Juniata
Muhlenberg
Susquehanna
Ursinus
St. John’s in Annapolis and Santa Fe (great books learning)
Bard in NY
If you like alternative schools like Soka you may want to consider these small schools –
Bennington
Marlboro
College of the Atlantic
Unity in Maine
Quest in Canada
Hi every one, sorry about that. I admit the list is very rough since I put together ones that have full ride scholarships and need based FA and haven’t sorted through them yet. The reason is that I can’t afford to pay the tuition so Need-based FA will probably give the full package. That is also the reason why I’m also looking for schools with full ride scholarships.
I’m looking for colleges that have either Astronomy/Physics or Mech/Electro Engineering programs. Thanks for the previous comments. Any suggestions are welcome.
Did you convert your GPA? if so, how? often the conversions are not helpful in helping you identify how your stats stack up. Also, your school may not rank, but most kids know if they are at the top of their class: are you?
Given your stats, I think a lot of the schools that people are proposing are pretty optimistic. Many (possibly most- I didn’t look them all up) of them don’t meet full need for international students, and all of them are ‘need aware’ for admissions, meaning that they will consider how much fin aid you need when deciding whether to admit you. If your GPA is accurate, a 3.6 + 1360 + high fin aid need is going to be tough to sell even for many (most?) of those that other posters have suggested. And, as @Dustyfeathers pointed out, each school gets to decide what they think you need in the way of financial aid.
Btw, William and Mary does not give financial aid to international students.
At the top of the financial aid forum, there is a thread on automatic full tuition and full ride scholarships. Some of those scholarships were open to international applicants last year. Read through the thread and check each of the places listed to see what is available for you this year.
