Looking for Computer Science

Hello everyone,

I am a Junior attending Darien High School (US News Silver) in Darien, CT and am looking for advice regarding computer science programs. I am having some difficulty determining which schools I should be looking for with my stats and which I can consider reach, safety, etc. Below are my stats and considered schools (please recommend more!)

Academics:
3.6 GPA
1900 SAT
My School does not rank.

Other:
100+ Red Cross Volunteer Hours
Worked at Whole Foods for 1/2 year
President of Support our Soldiers Club
Member of Varsity Swim Team
Of Hispanic Descent
No need for financial aid
3 letters of recommendation (math teacher, club advisor, guidance counselor)

AP Courses Taken:
Biology
Computer Science AB
Economics

I am considering the following schools and where I believe I stand:

Georgia Tech (Reach/Target)
Carnegie Mellon (Reach)
SUNY Stony Brook (Safety)
Purdue (Safety)
Case Western (Target)
RPI (Reach/Target)
Stevens (Reach/Target)
Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign (?)
Maryland @ College Park (?)
Wisconsin @ Madison (?)

Also, I would like to stay east of the Mississippi. Thanks in advance.

RIT (NY)

Can you afford all these public OOS schools? Very little FA with these schools.

I am a very lucky man to say that cost is not an issue since I can pay full tuition. I owe my grandfather my life.

Thank you for your suggestion, I will look into RIT.

Is that 3.6 weighted or unweighted?

Weighted

Filler text.

If you apply by the priority deadline (Nov. 1) and maybe bring your SATs up a little, UMD will probably right on target. DO NOT miss the priority deadline.

I would say that Purdue is a match, not a safety …because of your GPA and your SAT.

*SAT: 1900 (Math: 650, Reading: 600, Writing: 650)
*

Your M+CR is 1250

test Scores Middle 50% of First-Year Students

SAT Critical Reading: 500 - 610
SAT Math: 540 - 670
SAT Writing: 490 - 600
ACT Composite: 23 - 29

37% had h.s. GPA of 3.75 and higher
24% had h.s. GPA between 3.5 and 3.74

*I am a very lucky man to say that cost is not an issue since I can pay full tuition. I owe my grandfather my life.

congrats…So, your Grandfather will pay $200,000 for wherever you go?

Might look at Holy Cross-very good liberal arts school with strong computer science program.

Macalester has excellent computer science and looks like a match for you. It’s about a mile east of the Mississippi. ;)

Thanks for the suggestions, but I would prefer schools with no religious affiliation. Thanks.
