Looking for Engineering Schools that fits my stats in the Mid West

3.7 is the weighted GPA. Unweighted GPA should be around 3.5.

are you sure extreme power? That makes a ton of sense because i don’t see those state schools that prestigious. UIUC, to uofiapplicant, ive been told will be hard to get into for COE with my stats.

anything i can do to improve my chances besides increases my grades and act score. Like my counselor suggested i should go meet with the admittance counselors.

Yeah, that’s the weighted GPA.
You have a 31 ACT which is on the 75th percentile. Being in-state helps a lot. You are definitely in at Urbana Champaign.

Xtreme, The GPA shown in the CDS is not SUPPOSED to be weighted (the CDS directions state it’s supposed to be from a 4.0 max) but some colleges do fudge the numbers. I don’t know how you can explicitly state the GPA is weighted unless you’ve contacted them. Also, unless the OP is in the top 10% of his class I don’t think you can say he is definitely in a UIUC. GPA and rigor are more important than scores there.

i am in top ten percent. my brother graduated from U OF I. But i dont really care for U of I, other than its a great school for Engineering. But who should i contact erin’s dad?

Contact the admissions office to ask. Usually there is a link to E-Mail on the web site. Otherwise you can call.

Will do tomorrow or over the weekend, in the meantime can someone help me understand how state schools like wisconsin, or purdue, or U of I have about 70 percent of their student body have GPA’s above a 3.75, yet only have about 30% in the top ten of their class. I am in the top ten, but don’t have a 3.75. I just feel a 3.75+ is pretty selective, I am an A,B student. Do i really just have a low GPA? Granted my weighted is a 4.2

UIUC and Wisconsin have something like 55-60% in the top ten percent.

We should put more emphasis on how many were in the top 10% and 25%, average SAT and ACT scores rather than the reported GPA. GPA’s are sometimes recalculated by colleges.

UIUC has an average ACT of 29 and
54% were in the top 10%.
88% were in the top 25%.

Anyone know where i can find stats for the avg. engineering student.
