Looking for good (but small) engineering schools in the Mid-Atlantic

2014son is looking for a good (but small; < 10K) engineering school in the Mid-Atlantic. Since I graduated from a large one (Purdue) I have little insight on what is out there. Thanks.

Also, DIII baseball would be a plus!

Stats? Budget?

2014 has a SAT of 1050, 91/100 GPA from a private prep HS. Hope to get SAT higher with subsequent tests. Looking for max tuition and fees around $35K.

1050/1600 or 1050/2400

Look at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY.

Average SATs: 550 CR, 600M.
Average GPA: 3.5.
Fall 2011 acceptance rate: ~78%.
2012-13 tuition, fees, room & board: ~$42K.

RIT, Rowan, U. Hartford

I know almost nothing about it, but read that rowan, an otherwise unexceptional public school in southern nj, has really ramped up its engineering department in recent years.

If locale is not a big issue, also check out njit in newark. Bad neighborhood, very good school and relatively cheap.

SUNYIT would match the stats and price range.

Don’t know about the splits, but that’s a pretty low SAT for someone who wants engineering. Can he handle it? Is there a good chance he will struggle and change majors? That might affect your choices.
