So I am going to be transferring soon from my local community college. I have a high GPA at 3.75 including some honors classes. My problem is that I cannot find a decent / good college in my price range. I would be very lucky to be able to go to a school that costs $20,000 a yeah including room and board. I live in R.I and I am not interested in going to any of the colleges here. I was looking at McGill university in Quebec Canada, but for an international student it would cost around $22,000 including room and board. That is over my limit, and I would be fortunate to be able to spend that amount and go there.

The problem is that I have not been able to find any colleges or universites that are well known for there academics within my price range. It is discouraging. If anyone knows of any universities or colleges that would be great. Or if you know any other ideas, as I seem to be all out. I wish I could apply to a lot of good schools and maybe take out a loan. But unforunately my family does not really even have the credit to be in that postition.

Choose a state where you'd like to live with a public university that offers your major. Relocate to that state and support yourself working for a minimum of one year. Then apply for transfer admission as an instate student. Even the states with great public universities, where admission to their flagship school is uncertain for most applicants, there are other campuses within the university system that are less competitive.

Try to look at CUNY & SUNY in New York. Their tuition is about $12,000 for out-of-state students. Although the living cost would be depends on where your college is located.

SUNY Buffalo has very cheap living cost and it's great for business major.

Fill out a FAFSA calculator (this site has one). Many colleges will meet 100% of your financial need with a combination of grants, loans, and work, if you are accepted. Let us know what your FAFSA is and then we can help you look at schools you can afford.

Also, many schools offer scholarships to students like yourself who are high-achievers. Have you looked into Phi Theta Kappa scholarships? Many are small, but do help. Some universities I have seen have been generous enough to give out over $16,000 in PTK money.
