If UW is University of Washington, you will have a tough time for the CSE department, because your SAT. Which UO you are talking about? Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon? Yes, what is your home state?
My home state is Oregon, and money is not a consideration for me as long as it’s not ridiculously expensive ($50000+). By UO, I mean the University of Oregon.
Nothing wrong to try all, but CS/CSE is the hottest subject in all schools, competition is fierce. You have the best chance at UOregon. Make sure you find a direct entry program.
Even if you can get into UW, you will not get direct-admit to CS. It’s very competitive even for in-state students, and even more so for out-of-state. If you were to attend UW without CS direct admit, your odds of getting into the major once there are less than one in three - not a good investment of $50K/year. (Most likely moot anyway based on general admissions stats.)
Portland State actually has a very good CS department and would be very affordable. You meet the admissions criteria. Apply early and you’ll have a good in-state option nailed down in case UO/OSU don’t work out.
Consider WUE schools with good CS departments like UNLV/UNR (3.25 GPA cutoff for the WUE discount) and U of Utah.
Actually, with your stat profile, you might consider UC Merced. It’s the only WUE school in the UC system - the others would cost well above your $50K cutoff. UC’s don’t consider freshman grades for admission, so you’d probably be in great shape for acceptance to Merced with your stronger 10th-11th grade record. https://admissions.ucmerced.edu/out-of-state/wue
Thanks for the feedback (sorry for bumping this thread BTW). Are there any other schools I should look at, preferably on the West Coast, assuming money wasn’t a consideration?
