Did you know that the Dalai Lama has an onging relationship with Emory? It might be worth checking out

boysx3- The Dalai Lama’s relationship with Emory (my alma mater) provides wonderful opportunities for students who want to gain exposure to Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. I was able to go back to Atlanta to attend a lecture he gave, and it was amazing. But Emory probably isn’t the best place for someone already as dedicated to and knowledgeable about the field as the OP’s son. There’s no dedicated major, or very many advanced classes in Tibetan. Besides, the OP said that the financial aid wouldn’t work out for them.

boysx3 – MyNetter is right, Emory’s has lots of publicity and a great study abroad program in Tibet but lacks any real academic depth to Tibetan study, and then there is the money.
