Looking for insight on STONEHILL COLLEGE

Son applied based on recom. of GC and checking it out online. Got accepted with merit and has interest in visit. Timing is very tight now so looking to gather as much insight as possible before with make the 400 mile round trip. Has interest in business and I think he would do well at smaller school (7500 or less).
Looking for student and parent feedback on
- school/academics
- social life
- sports scene (will likely play club sport)
- career services and rep. in NYC area
- any other input

I talked today with a coworker who sent a son to Stone Hill. He realllllly wanted to go to BU with his hs buddy, but he didn’t get any BU $ and Stone Hill offered a nice scholarship. Fast forward… the kid was able to get into med school pretty easily. His BU buddy was not so fortunate.

I realize your son is not looking a pre-med. But I thought I’d add a story about a family that ended up at Stone Hill reluctantly but then really liked the school and the professors.

Stonehill has a VERY nice campus! It’s small compared to a school like Umass Amherst but the facilities are great. When I visited, the people seemed very nice and welcoming.

Thanks. It is last minute but were going up early Monday 4/10. Several people I spoke to said absolutely beautiful campus. Looked at the info and pictures online and I concur. Also read the review sites, which were mixed but taking it all in stride. Will have to see for ourselves.
breezymouse- did you pick school yet?? and if not stonehill, what did you not like that other school had.

I haven’t picked one yet. Just received my last financial package and working out the numbers with my mom. Stonehill is my 2nd choice while Emmanuel College in boston is first. I like Emmanuel mainly because of the location. While Stonehill is 20 miles south of Boston, Emmanuel is in the center, right next to the Fenway stadium. At emmanuel, a car is not necessary because of the trains and subs. Overall I think both schools are great. For me, location is key as well as the other significant factors

ok, good luck. Will post review after Monday.

You will find the campus gorgeous, worth the trip. Since you are traveling so far, you may want to check out Babson and Bentley since your son is looking at small business schools. They will have the NYC connections for jobs. You never know when he may want to transfer to one of them if things don’t work out at Stonehill, may be good to check out your options since you are coming from such a distance. Love this school, but the social life is mainly on campus. Boston is a hike despite the fact that they say they will drop them off at a T - stop. Brockton is a scary city, no social life there.

I hear you but this is a one visit trip. Son in SR yr and this was a late entry to the race. He is NOT 100% committed to business which is why Babson and Bentley were knocked off. Both great schools for business. All the school were down to have good/very good business programs but if change, the options are there as well. Got our itinerary today for Stonehill and squeezing in visiit between spring sport and school.

Make sure you ask about the NYC externship program if you’re serious about NYC area jobs. I don’t know much about it other than the fact that my business major friends have raved about it.
