Looking for M2CK's post on best campus entrance

<p>I have searched in vain - I know it’s out there but I can’t find it!</p>

<p>D is visiting Bama for the first time next week, and I want to give H directions for the way to enter campus to put it in its best light (not, of course, that he’s likely to follow those directions, but I can try). The extended forecast is showing temps 10 degrees below normal and a chance of rain, so every little bit helps!</p>

<p>I think the best way to approach the school is from McFarland to University Blvd (heading west)</p>

<p>So, one would go west on I20 (from B’ham), take the McFarland exit, head north, then take the University Blvd exit and head west. (note the new Capstone College of Nursing which will be on your right once you get on University.)</p>

<p>the only entrance I would avoid is the Cottondale exit route that would have your child coming in from the east through the worst part of town</p>

<p>it is great short cut for game day traffic, but not very attractive</p>

<p>Actually, the north entrance is nice too. One can walk from their (Jack Warner Pkwy., aka River Road) and have the chance to see the shiny new dorms and the still unfinished Science and Engineering Complex and Quad. </p>

<p>Another interesting entrance is from the west side through Downtown Tuscaloosa. That part of town is becoming a very attractive entrance. </p>

<p>But I agree with Mom that the McFarland/Univ. Blvd entrance is nice cause your first image of UA is the beautiful new Nursing bldg., although even with improvements, McFarland Blvd has a way to go. The city has plans to improve is attractiveness.</p>
