Looking for matches

Hi; I am a student who is interested in a school with a strong math and science program (most important factor). I really have no idea what I want to do for a specific major beyond that, though. I'm not really interested in continuing sports in college, though I will definitely run at Johns Hopkins or UChicago if I get in. Here's an idea of the colleges I'll be applying to:

University of Minnesota
UChicago
Johns Hopkins
Princeton
Yale
Stanford
Columbia

There is definitely a disparity between my safety school and my reaches so I am looking for some matches to add on to my college list. Here are some of my stats:

Male, Caucasian, Midwest

SAT: 2250 (740CR, 750M, 760W, 11E) - Will be retaking in the fall to try and get an 800 on the Math section
ACT: 33 (will retake in fall)
SAT II: US History (800), Math II (800), Chem (740-may or may not retake in fall)
Unweighted GPA: 3.99
Rank: 6/560
AP's: US History (5), Calc BC (5), Euro (5), Lang (5), Stats (5)
EC's: Cross Country (varsity captain), Swimming (varsity captain), Track and Field (varsity captain), Debate, Student Council (officer), NHS, NSpanishHS

Thank you so much!

I don’t see the problem with your choices. I’ve seen students apply to their safety and a bunch of reaches before. If you’d be happy at UMinn then that’s fine. How much can your family afford for school?

Erin’s Dad is right, if you love your safety. If you don’t, you might also want to consider Case Western & Rose Hulman as matches. If you want more application hassle, you could also look at Harvey Mudd and Caltech and MIT as reaches.

You don’t mention money - have you talked with your parents and done either the FAFSA 4Caster or the net cost calculator on the school sites and they agree that they can pay what would be expected at all those schools?

Check out Oberlin. It is surprisingly strong in science.

How about the midwestern LACs? earthdancer7 mentioned Oberlin. Others like it are Carleton, Grinnell, and Macalester.

What about UCLA and Carnegie Mellon

Thanks everyone, I think I got what I need!

Bowdoin, Holy Cross, Tufts.
