Looking For Opinions

So far I have got into:

Merced
Santa Cruz
Riverside

My stats are:

POLSC Major
3.0 GPA
TAG to every school I could
Three Classes Towards my major
IGETC Completed
Good Essay

Has anyone heard of anyone with a GPA as low as mine get into UCSD, UCLA, or UCSB?

Anyways just trying to ease my mind, I just want to know if I even have a chance. Thanks! Your opinions are appreciated.

Also out of curiosity, are UCSC and Merced considered easy to get into? (assuming so)

I havn’t heard of anyone with a GPA like that getting into UCLA for sure. I’m not sure about the other two. I think you might have a decent shot depending on your pre req position for each school. And yes, UCSC, Merced AND Riverside are all considered easy to get in to.

i thought tag was a guarantee?

^ yup it’s guarantee

@brad87: I have 3.2ish GPA and got accepted by UCSD, don’t worry if you’ve meet the requirements

If you have TAG I’m sure you got into UCSD if you followed everything correctly.

I don’t think UCLA has TAG, I believe they have TAP, Transfer Alliance Program. I don’t know about Berkeley. Also, my friend was accepted to UCLA and UCSB, but not Berkeley with a 3.1x for geography. IGETC completed, all prereqs, no work experience, no TAP, no ec’s and **** essays.

The average GPA for poli sci majors at UCLA last year was a 3.65. But you never know… Good luck, fellow poli sci major!

And the average GPA for geography is 3.56 You never really know who they will accept.

brad, your GPA is lower than mine and you got into MERCED, congrats. My concerns is what in the hell is wrong with this school in not accpeting me yet? I got into UCSD, AND UCSB already. This is driving me nuts and very upset as days pass along because I got accepted to say what??? the other schools a long time ago that i can’t even remember. Merced is sleeping and it makes me disappointed

for the longest time, i thought u were joking about really wanting to go to merced. if that is still the case, give it a break - it isnt funny anymore. if it isnt the case, then… why?

but they haven’t accepted me yet. I find that really nervewracking you know. I got accepted to the other schools before march 15, which makes me wonder what is wrong with merced? I expected them to be the first one to accept me but it’s taking longer than usual. I am also waiting for ucla, but I know they haven’t made their decisions, and of course occidental. sure hope merced can get serious and either accept or reject me soon.

Thanks for the input everyone, yea I didn’t expect to get into UCLA, if somehow I did…then great, but I rather go to UCSD anyways. I did apply to UCSD with TAG, I have taken every class I can towards my major, and I will be IGETC certified after this semester. So I think I’m good on every avenue besides GPA. Hopefully I get in, I really love San Diego.

@feihtkrad when did you hear from UCSD? Thats good news, that’s what my GPA will likely be after this semester.

@chesserforlife I’m sure you will get in! But hey if you don’t get into Merced, I will trade my admittance for UCSD or UCSB any day :)

Also I forgot to mention that I started a business three years ago, and I’m hoping this influences my admission chances. Does anyone know what kind of pull work experience has? I have a fairly unique work history.

thats cool, i heard a lot of poli sci majors are filthy rich
