I'm really stressed out looking for some additional schools to apply to and I was hoping you guys could give me a hand. also, please let me know which of my ECs would look best on my apps- I don't want the wicked lame ones to overwhelm the unique ones (if any).

Me:

suburban massachusetts
non-competitive public school
(by non-competitive i mean top students go to BU/BC/Northeastern

Looking for:
medium (2,000-10,000)
Northeast!
suburban campus near a big city
considering international business major

I'd rather be a small fish in a big pond, if you know what I mean

American University looks good for you too.

Great business school (Ranked #28 by BusinessWeek) and international studies school (Ranked #11 by Foreign Policy Magazine). The business school was recently renovated and expanded this year, and the new international studies building is set to open 2010.

6,000 undergrad, in NW suburban Washington DC (very nice area, and still within 15mins walk of the subway).

You have a great GPA, and your SATs is within the middle 50% box.

Finally someone else who doesn’t have insane SAT scores lol u and me are in the same boat so I’ll suggest some universities I’m consider applying too.

NYU (Stern or CAS)
University of Chicago (they place huge emphasis on ur essays and don’t care too much about SATs)
Brandies
University of Pitt (good merit money from what I’m told)
Boston University
Stone Hill college (great campus!)
GWU

thanks so much, Cacciato! I’ve heard good things about a lot of those schools over the course of my search process. Stonehill is an awesome school and I’m hoping to visit BU this fall. I’d love other suggestions if anyone has them. Also, what about my ECs? I’d love to get some opinions about how to make them look less like a laundry list!

It gives you a BA in international studies from SAS and a Wharton BS econ. It’s probably even more of a super-reach than Yale (and has an 87% yield that puts it ahead of HYP), but worth a shot :)

University of South Carolina also has America’s top-ranked international business department…one of my favorite Wharton profs left to go there :(

Do you need financial aid? Critical info for a list with these stats.

Huntsman is harder to get into than Yale, which honestly isn’t worth spending the time on the application not having taken your school’s hardest classes.

I would absolutely love the Huntsman program. However… I’ve come to realize that I don’t have any chance of getting in. Depending on what happens in college, I may try to transfer after a year or two, but right now, I think it would be a waste of time/energy.
I know my chances with Yale are slim to none but I’m so in love with the school that I’d regret it if I didn’t give it a shot.

As for financial aid, my dad was recently laid off, so yeah, i’m going to need it. Will that hurt me? I thought most schools were need-blind?
