Hello everyone! I am a student that lives outside EU and USA region and Im looking into some schools that offer BFA or BA/ BA(Hons) in musical theatre in USA and UK . I actually do not have any experience in Musical Theatre but I do have some experience in Performing Arts that does not have any relation to any of the 3 components of Musical Theatre. The more I discover about MT (including the tough sides of MT) , the more I love it, and I hope to pursue studies in Musical Theatre, and can’t see myself doing anything else. Musical Theatre is only offered in one school in my country, and I took a look at the curriculum and didn’t really like it.
Some things I look out for include:
- Affordability- Receiving scholarship or financial aid would be such a huge help.
- Curriculum- I leaning more towards conservatory style programs, such as those that offer acting, vocal and dance classes for all years of studies.
I have actually looked into schools such as AMDA, NYFA, Boston Conservatory, CCM, Baldwin Wallace in USA and Anglia Ruskin University and Arts Educational Schools in UK.
For AMDA, I read through the threads posted in CC, but posts are from a few to many years back. Seems like many people do not have a good impression of AMDA. What does everyone feel about AMDA now? AMDA seems quite out of reach for me because of its cost, but I like that it offers acting, vocal and dance classes for all four years. I also know that AMDA is accredited but not many schools share the same accreditation, so it will be difficult to transfer credits, If anyone got any information about AMDA, please feel free to answer as well.
For schools like Baldwin Wallace, I will be unable to attend unless I take a gap year and take SAT and ACTs, which I don’t want to take a gap year.
Does anyone have any information of Arts Educational Schools in UK? It seems like a program suited to me but I can’t find much information online. If anyone got any information, please share!
Thank you for taking your time to read this! Any help and information will be much appreciated!
