@time4adventure Oberlin is a Questbridge school, and many of those schools have great AID, but limited merit. So, I looked at their website, and Oberlin’s website says that their merit awards are “limited.” My students who have been accepted to Oberlin have gotten great aid, but less merit than at some similar schools. But, that certainly can be situation-specific. If you liked Oberlin, by all means, definitely apply! See what happens. If you like Oberlin and they make it affordable for you, then you can get a great and affordable education. That would be awesome!
On another note, I thought the OP might be interested in this list: https://www.princetonreview.com/college-rankings?rankings=tree-hugging-vegetarians
@time4adventure. Just visited my daughter at Beloit and I remembered your thread here. She loves it. She is a junior transfer from Illinois Wesleyan and told us she wished she went here the first 2 years. She calls it more hipster but in a good way. Very laid back “alternative” vibe . She said the students seem to be more intellectual from what she sees in class and just meeting people. Everyone seems to be friendly. She thinks the professors care more about what they are teaching also. Loves the class discussions and interactions.
Does anyone think Wheaton College of Massachusetts would fit this liberal, social justice vibe?
Yes Wheaton in Mass has that vibe IMHO.
Thanks @Dustyfeathers . I’d just come across it recently and it sounded like it checked a lot of our boxes.
