So I will be entering my final year as an undergraduate this coming fall. I will graduate with a BS in Chemistry and two minors in Mathematics and Philosophy from the Rochester Institute of Technology. I want to pursue a PhD as soon as I graduate, however, I feel that my GPA is rather inadequate for the programs that I'm interested in. I dream of getting accepted to MIT, Ohio State, and Georgia Tech as they are my top 3 choices. Here's the deal, my GPA is rather low 3.01 out of 4.0. I underwent a rough patch with my family during my sophomore year and it had a severe impact on my grades. I know that it is now too late to change that, but I do have some pros on my side.

I have been doing research in photovoltaic technology continuously since freshman year. I have published my research in peer reviewed scientific journals 4 times and I still have a couple more on the way before fall semester. I have also given talks at national conferences and presented my research at various research symposiums. I think that my recommendation letters will be very strong and I have some extracurricular activities on my resume as well.

I guess my question is the following, " What are my chances of getting accepted into the Materials Engineering or Microsystems Engineering programs of any of these schools given the provided info about myself?"

If you need more info let me know. :)

Thank you for your time.
