Wanting some info on the NYU TISCH Undergraduate Acting Program?
I just finished grade nine (I live in Australia) and have been looking into Colleges over the holidays, I love acting, and hear amazing things about TISCH's program and would love the opportunity to attend but I know for a fact it is notoriously hard to get into. I haven't been acting since the moment I could breathe like others, and so far all I have done is grade 8 and 9 drama as well as backstage stuff for a Senior High School performance, although my grades are good.

I wanted to know what kinds of things I need to be doing to make it possible for me to attend,
like what kinds of grades I should be getting, what classes in High School I should be taking, what extracurricular activities I should be involved in and so on and so forth. just any advice you can give me to getting into TISCH

Also, I heard that only about 18 people get into the Undergraduate Acting Program at TISCH :O
Is this true?!?!

Tisch admissions are about 50-50 academics and audition. There’s no specific classes you should take or extracurriculars you should take. Just make sure you have above average grades for the academic admissions. For the artistic review, you 1) have to have a good audition, and 2) show that you’re passionate about theatre and acting. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to have been acting since birth or whatever. I only really started when I was in 7th grade. I have a friend in my studio who’s actually never acted before auditioning. Just keep on doing shows and backstage crew and other theatrey things. What it all really boils down to, though, is the audition.

And whoever told you that Tisch undergrad accepts 18 people is a liar. They accept a couple hundred.

This is the NYU Tisch Int’l Applicants page. They say they have over 7,000 int’l students. There’s also a link on the side of the page for “digital submissions,” which I guess is about DVD submissions. It’s obviously better to try to audition in person, but NYU realizes that that’s impossible for most int’l applicants. Just make sure that you follow all their DVD instructions and stuff and they won’t mark your audition down.

You still have a few years left before you have to worry about any of this though.
