I realize that it is way past deadlines at this point and I know I won’t be able to attend UIUC next year, but I very much wish I would’ve applied. UIUC was my top choice, but the cost and rumors of not giving decent aid made me not apply. I plan on attending MSU next year and I love the school, but I just wish UIUC was an option. Now I won’t know how much aid I would’ve gotten at UIUC and am very much regretting not applying because I would’ve loved for it to be an option.
I suppose I would like to know what kind of aid I could expect to get. I live with my dad who makes around $50,000 a year and I don’t have any money saved up for college. Can anybody give me an idea of what kind of aid I could’ve been looking at? Also would the assumed cost increase be worth an education at UIUC over MSU. I plan on studying physics or engineering with in-state tuition and will probably have at least $30,000 in loans at graduation.
Also, What would you guys do in my situation? Would you see how MSU is and debate on transferring after freshmen year? The thought of transferring is unappealing to me. Picking up everything and switching schools and having to start all over again doesn’t sound fun. Can anyone offer me some insight into what transferring schools is like?
I want to clarify that I really love MSU, but I think UIUC is a school I could’ve chosen over MSU.
