Looking for someone to critique my "What Don't You Know" Essay

Preferably a current Brown student.
I am applying RD and plan to submit my application in a couple of days.
I will send you the essay VIA PM.

Thank you!

i cent in my brown younivercity erly decision alredy and im good righter so send me pls

Hi gustavkimt -
I wanted to ask you how long is your Brown essay? I’m applying to Brown RD too so don’t send me your essay; but I just wanted to know how many words your essay has. Mine has about 950 and I’m wondering if that is too much…
Thanks! And good luck! :)

physex - lmao! :D

lol physex xD
It’s about 580 words, AudreyH
I didn’t want to go too much over the limit just on principle, though I doubt Brown would mind if you went over as long as everything you said was pertinent/you avoided repetition. Maybe try cutting it down a little so you’re in the 800s? That’s what I would do at least.

Thanks hey! I’ll try trimming it to about 750!

Free bump too!

If I remember correctly the limit was 500…

send it over! i’d love to read it

I’ve sent my application already. You will be hard pressed to have any current Brown students read your papers; it is finals week for a lot of the ivy league colleges. However, I would be happy to fill their shoes and see if there are any egregious flaws with your essay (either with spelling, sentence structure, diction, etc.) Best of luck.

I’ll read it. I was accepted ED to Dartmouth. Brown was my 2nd choice!

uuummmm AudreyH… The limit is 500 words not 750 words… cough

I would be happy to ready your essay if you’d like to PM me…

sorry to hijack your forum gustavklimt, but I’ve been wondering if the word limit on essay is a steadfast rule or more of a guideline?

The 500 word limit is definitely more of a guideline than a limit. If you need proof from the horse’s mouth, so to speak, check out Brown’s admissions blog. If you scroll down a bit, you should find an entry where this topic is specifically addressed.

Cheers!

Thanks for the helpful info, Dawnwatcher. That’s certainly a relief. My essay ended up being about 620 words with edits.

620 words is fine. I would say that anything over 700 is pushing it on the limit.
