Hello everyone I’m a native Asian female student currently majoring in piano at Shanghai conservatory of music and I’m gonna be a senior this fall. Since our school is personally too music-oriented and chances to explore my academic interests are scarce, I’ve decided to apply for US colleges. I’m definitely ambitious, hoping to do doble major or dual degree programs ( piano performance and Econ/media) in the top 20s, I truly would like to know something about the chances to be accepted based on the information below.
Middle / high school: Shanghai Conservatory of Music ( Two most interesting facts about my school: 1.Academic courses for only half of the day. 2.No science, no physics, no biology, no chemistry).
Schools in mind: Harvard/NEC( reach) , Yale, Columbia/Juilliard ,Northwestern, John Hopkins/ Peabody, Rochester/Eastman, Oberlin (safe), NYU (maybe).
GPA: 3.8-3.9
SAT: 1510 ( will take again in Oct.)
SAT subject: Maths II 790 ; French 780
AP: Music Theory, French Literature and Culture, Microeconomics - all 5
- I took so few exams cuz my school doesn't offer AP courses and absolutely NO science lessons... Btw, I'm self-studying physics & calculus and thinking about taking the tests.
Awards & Prizes: Piano: 2016 international 4st ; 2017 national 1st ; regional 1st & 2nd ; 3 solo recitals
English speech contest : 2016 regional 1st, national 3rd
Ballet: Royal Academy 8th grade certificate ( highest for amateur)
Extracurricular: Ballet since 3 yrs old, 3-4 hrs/week
Swimming, table tennis, tennis 1-2 times/ week
Drama club member 4 hrs/ week
Chamber music group 4 yrs
Volunteering: annual international music festival @ Shanghai, 2-3 weeks

FINALLY, thank you for spending time reading the list and I DO hope to receive your advice !! Please feel free to ask me questions as well !!
