Looking for summer music camps (vocal) in VA, MD

Hi,
My daughter is a singer (HS soph), and I'd like to find her a good summer music camp (one- or two-week residential) fairly close to our home (northern VA). She'd prefer a university-based program, and something that offers classes/practice in the college audition process.

We'd do the one at Shenandoah University, but the July dates confict with our summer schedule.

I've looked into George Mason University, Christopher Newport, JMU, but I didn't see anything on their websites.

Before I start emailing and making phone calls I thought I'd try to save myself some time and effort and check with people who've BTDT. :)

I suppose I can expand my search into southern NJ and DE if somthing really good comes up.

Thanks!

My D did this one last year and got alot out of it.

I can't say that I've checked but I've got to believe that the University of Maryland offers something. Also, how about Towson or Johns Hopkins?

Again, I didn't check myself but all three have music schools that range from respectable to outstanding.

NYSMF (New York Summer Music Festival) is a little outside of your preferred sphere, but it's an excellent choice for a young musician. We've got about a dozen students from your neck of America, too, so it's apparantly not too bad of a schlepp from VA to Oneonta, NY!

We're hosted by the College at Oneonta (part of the SUNY system, State Univ of NY), and we have excellent vocal instructors from NYC, including Dr. Lori McCann from NYU. Our faculty is made up of professional working musicians and top faculty from places like Curtis, Juilliard, MSM, etc, and we have conductors and Visiting Artists from the best orchestras including the NY Pops, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the NY Philharmonic.

Our program consists of three 2-week sessions, each one featuring more than 50 ensembles & classes, and over 30 concerts over the entire season. We're remarkably diverse, providing not only bands and orchestras, but four choirs (Concert, Madrigal, Select, and Jazz), an extensive jazz program, and specialized classes in opera/musical theatre scene study. We also provide unique creative opportunities in acting, filmmaking, and original musical theatre, in which the student create their own original piece in just 12 days.

Please have a look at our program at http://www.nysmf.org. I think you'll be impressed enough to take a closer gander at it!
