I went to Western Michigan in the fall, got a 3.6 gpa but then enrolled in a community college where i got a 3.94. I would love to get into UofM but I am unsure if it is possible and want to explore other options. I will have 60 credit hours after this school year and I plan on raising my gpa even higher(my 3.94 at community college was because i got one A- in existentialism! lol)

I was a slacker in HS and my gpa is probably in the range of 2.5-3.0(probably somewhere in the 2.7 i feel) I also got a 29 on the act both times i took it(super scoring it i got a 35 english 33 science 36 reading and a 21 math)

I am a philosophy major and i would love to go to a liberal school. Location isn't a big deal, money is an issue but not a deal breaker(unless its crazy)

What would be a good fit? Are my chances of getting into Michigan decent? I work, but i don't do too many extracurricular activities. I'm highly motivated, but i value free time spent with friends, reading and writing. As far as essays go, I'm confident. Interviews are a strength. Where do I fit?

Try UofM (heard the philosophy program there is great) and, if you want to stay in Michigan, consider Michigan State.

Or you can go the other way and look into Ohio State. Maybe check out University of Maryland. It’s pretty broad but just throwing some things out there for you.

as a michigan fan, i don’t know if i could bring myself to attend ohio state…MSU is definitely a school i am going to apply to. I feel with my grades I will get in there without much trouble.Maryland you say? I’m going to have to go scope them out…

I have been told that U of M has a very high acceptance rate of 50%. It doesn’t guarantee that you will get in, but it probably means you have a decent shot.

i don’t really like any of the mac schools and thats a reason I left western. I hardly tried and got a 3.6. That was when i realized it was a waste of my money and i would be better served at CC to get good grades and transfer somewhere better
