i had a fairly well interview with an alumni in my area already, she seems to like me and say i am an attractive candidates to any colleges does that mean anything postive? or she was just saying it....

If you're third in your class that's definitely good enough. Just make sure you have enough $ to go, or they'll reject you on finaid grounds.

MHC will be a safety school for you.

Do you need financial aid? Admission to schools like Mount Holyoke can be really competitive for international students requesting financial aid; from my understanding it definitely isn't needs blind. If you aren't asking for financial aid, I agree that it would be a safety school; even if you are, I think you still have a great shot! :)

I used to live in McKinney. I can't say I miss the school system but I do miss Taco Cabana.

yeah the mexican food here are great...hehe...the MISD could hardly get enough teachers with the population pouring in mckinney...
i definetly need FA that is the contradiction here. most IVY need-blind with competitive international pool...and nice lac non-blind with competitive FA international pool....to be safe, do you think i should ed it? well, i mean, you know, i like Wellesley a lot....but i can't ed it 'cuz of FA needs

Uh, this is Mt. H, but Wellesley is need blind, unlike MHC so you actually have a better shot there.

Plus, 25-27% of Wellesley is Asian.

If you need aid, don't ED to a need-aware school.

Hmm, actually Wellesley is not need-blind for internationals so the competition is tougher.

I believe MHC is more generous, and if it's your first choice you should definitely ED to increase your chances...if not, then probably wait till RD round. I think you have a pretty good shot anyway. Also, it's possible to appeal for more if they don't give you enough money during ED, as I've seen people on the Midd board have done so.

well, actually MHC does offer very generous finaid to internationals, or at least to Bulgarians. All Bulgarian girls I know have received full- ride or almost full-ride...So I guess if your application is strong enough to be admitted, they'll meet your full demonstrated need.

my advice is: don't ed to a school that is not your first choice just because you think it will be more generous.

best wishes:)

I think you are an excellent candidate for admission no matter what your financial status is. I think I would expand your options, though, and apply to schools similar to MHC as well (Smith, Wellesley). My D got a scholarship from Smith but not MHC, so there are differences between how each college will read your application.
