Family issues, ended up with my mom staying in Korea for 3 years, so i had no mom during middle school - middle of high school. She came back eventually, but does this count as a hardship in a college's view?

UCLA
UCSD
UCD
Carnegie
Stanford (<-- This will be my one miracle school just for the heck of it)
Cornell

For people that know about the engineering field wel (preferably chemical), I was wondering if you guys know of privates that would be a good fit for my numbers, what would be the most "bang for my buck"?

bumpy, any ideas on any 2nd tier chemical engineering private colleges?

bumpers, (filler), can someone give me a % estimate on chances of making it?

The UC GPA relies entirely on your sophomore and junior year courses in high school. As to all the colleges you list, you have a decent chance of admission with likely UCD and UCSD being close to safeties (and you might also consider UCSB); the others are reaches but not out of reach. Some other private colleges you might want to check into for Chem E are Northwestern, Rice, Rose-Hulman, Cooper Union, Bucknell. There are also a large number of public universities including GTech, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, Purdue, Wis. Note, none of the above can be considered "2d Tier" since they are among the top colleges for engineering and Chem E.
